WAITANGI, Today: Thousands of people from around the world have packed – peacefully (so far) – into the usually sleepy Bay of Islands town to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi on Thursday 6 February 1840.
At the time of writing (early today – Wednesday), there’d been no sign of protest placards and unofficial roadblocks. Maoro pea ka roa/Long may it last!
Waitangi Day is, of course, a public holiday so M+AD will not be published tomorrow.
See you Friday.
