AUCKLAND, Jan 1: Rip It Up co-founder, music journalist/photographer Murray Cammick was made an Officer of the NZ Order of Merit in the new year’s honours list.

Cammick launched the groundbreaking title with Alastair Dougal in 1977 as a free magazine.

Over the years Rip It Up’s take-no-prisoners approach to journalism provided a crucial training ground for many New Zealand writers and journalists.
