AUCKLAND, Today: A reader writes: “Did you see the Sky TV ad that is running with the wee boy who ducks and dives along the beach with a bare bum?

“I think it’s really interesting that prior to Christmas you saw his wee bum. Now it’s been re-edited and you only see his back.

“Not sure if there’s a story in it,” she says. “But I do wonder if we are becoming too sensitive, or if it’s the right thing to do?”

DDB ANZ CCO Damon Stapleton responded: “Although I do share your views on sensitivity in this instance your reader is mistaken.


“While it’s hard to argue with Anon’s sentiment, we think this is a rather charming piece of work by Sky, DDB, and Finch.

“There is a 30 second version that is flighting. Before Xmas there was a 45 second version. The difference is obviously 15 seconds which meant making a few edit decisions.

To achieve this we had to lose a wide shot with the kid running towards the beach. We managed to keep it in the 15”. I think this is what your viewer has noticed.”

It’s hard to argue with Anon’s sentiment, and M+AD thinks this is a rather charming piece of work by Sky, DDB, and Finch.
